On behalf of the dedicated men and women of the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department, I welcome you to our website. The LGVFD is an all volunteer department which strives to provide the highest level of service possible to the citizens, businesses, and visitors of Lake George. Our firefighters are committed to providing the highest quality of emergency and non-emergency response.  We spend a great deal of time training, maintaining our equipment, and fund raising for new equipment to ensure the services we provide are the best they can be.

News from the Lake George Volunteer Fire Dept.

The Lake George Volunteer Fire Department was established to serve both the residents in the Village and the Town of Lake George. It is a well supported and well equipped department, trained and ready to meet the needs of the citizens of the Town and Village. Those interested in becoming part of the organization would be welcomed.

President Chris Gearwar's Message

   The firemen in this company serve their community with pride and dedication. These same qualities were found in the people that settled and formed this great country. For this reason it is an honor to be a part of what they do. The Lake George Volunteer Fire Department is looking forward to the construction of a new firehouse.   The new firehouse will replace the old one at its present location in the Village of Lake George. An request for proposal is going out to architects, requesting bids on the preparation of detailed specifications to construct the new building. The estimated completion of the new building is the end of 2008. Our community continues to grow and tourism remains the lifeblood of our economy. The state of the art facilities and equipment will promote confidence that the Department provides quality fire protection.

Mission Statement

The Lake George Fire Department is proud of its history, and serves the residents of and visitors to, the Town and Village of Lake George with the following objectives in mind:

• To provide the best possible protection to the residents of the Town and Village of Lake George and the surrounding communities under the Mutual Aid Plan and as set forth in the Standard Operating Procedures of this department.


• To provide fire protection, fire inspection and fire safety education services to our community.


• To foster interest in all matters pertaining to the volunteer service and to promote the welfare and social advances of all volunteer firefighters.


• To inculcate love of country, good citizenship, civic virtue and self sacrifice, and to perpetuate the spirit, which from the early days has actuated volunteer fireman in the rendition of service of the highest type in the protection of life and property from fire without hope of fee or reward.


• To promote the improvement and advancement of the Lake George community and its residents.
